Second INFLUX Project Retreat at Askö

At the end of October, members of the INFLUX project team (Luong Nguyen, Kathryn Bjorklund, Ege Pehlivanoglu, Amare Teklay, and Peter Søgaard Jørgensen), Stockholm Resilience Centre researchers (Örjan Bodin, Stefan Daume), and other external collaborators (Didier Wernli, Dan Bebber, Colin Carlson) attended the INFLUX project retreat held at Stockholm University's Askö Research Station.

Funded by the European Research Council, the INFLUX investigates how emerging pests and pathogens (EPPs) cascade through social-ecological systems, and how they can be governed in ways that support sustainable development.

During the retreat, project members presented ongoing work for feedback, including analyses of EPPs in relation to global shocks and their cascading impacts. Sessions also focused on collaborative work around how different types of crises interact with EPPs.

Participants who attended in person enjoyed boat rides to and from the venue, sauna sessions, and bike rides to experience all that the island had to offer.

Special thanks to Ege Pehlivanoglu and Peter Søgaard Jørgensen for organizing this year’s retreat.
